The Ferdinand Verbiest Foundation builds on a long tradition of collaboration between Belgium and China. Today, our focus is on supporting the Church in China through education, research, and pastoral development, fostering relationships based on equality and mutual respect.
What we do:
Education and Training: We provide scholarships and formation programs for priests, nuns, and lay people in China. Our priority is to support training locally, while some receive advanced studies abroad. After their studies, participants return to serve their communities, strengthening the Church from within.
Research and Academic Collaboration: The Foundation sponsors the Verbiest Institute at KU Leuven, the Chinese College in Leuven, and the Verbiest Institute in Taipei. Through these institutions, we promote research on the history of the Church in China and facilitate contemporary pastoral collaboration.
Development Projects: We support small-scale development initiatives in the dioceses of North-West China, including Gansu, Qinghai, Inner Mongolia, and Ningxia, helping local communities improve education, healthcare, and social services.
Close contact: Our team maintains close contact with bishops and religious communities in China, ensuring that all support is used responsibly and effectively.
By donating to the Ferdinand Verbiest Foundation, you help train Church leaders, support research, and improve lives in communities across China. Your contribution strengthens the ties between Belgium and China and helps build a future of collaboration and mutual respect.
